January 14, 1946 – January 11, 2021
Lorna Hess, 74, Noblesville, passed away on January 11, 2021 at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. She had lived in Hamilton County most of her life. She was born on January 14, 1946 to Mary Ann and Paul Lee.
Lorna, also known as “Pinky” by her family, married James Hess on October 5, 1974. She was a graduate of Westfield High School, Class of 1964. She was also an Air Force veteran, serving from 1964 to 1968.
Upon discharge from the Air Force, she worked for the VFW and Veteran’s Administration assisting veterans with benefits. She was a Durbin Elementary PTA officer, and an avid Master Gardener who worked for the Noblesville Parks Department, planting and maintaining flower beds. At the same time, she also worked at the Hamilton Southeastern High School cafeteria.
An animal lover, she fed the neighborhood birds and squirrels and adopted stray cats. Her beloved Border Collie, Daisy, died the same day as Lorna. Lorna loved to clog dance, tell jokes, bake, take walks, and do puzzles. She raised chickens and ducks in the barn that she and her husband built. The two of them did everything together. Lorna will be remembered as a loving wife and mother.
She was predeceased by her parents. Survivors include her husband and soulmate, James, Noblesville; daughter, Marianne, Noblesville; son, Nicholas, Indianapolis; son, Michael, Indianapolis; sister, Carol Gerber, Lapel; sister, Rebecca Lunde, Wauchula, Fla.; and brother, Richard Lee, Sheridan.
Private family services will be held due to the pandemic. As per her wishes, her body will be cremated. Lorna’s family has entrusted Randall & Roberts Funeral Homes with arrangements.
