Abdul Shabazz, Indianapolis radio personality, was the guest speaker Wednesday evening at the annual Carmel Clay Republican chili supper. He presented his observations on the current political scene in the state.
Candidates for Carmel city office in the May 7 primary election attended to meet club members and guests at the John Hensel Government Center.
The candidates – including Mayor Jim Brainard and his opponent, Fred Glynn – served chili to the attendees. Offices at stake this year include nine city council seats, city judge and city clerk in addition to mayor.
The GOP organization also elected officers for the year. Paul Ayers was named president succeeding Matt Snyder. Snyder will now be vice president. Dixie Packard and Barry Simich were re-elected as secretary and treasurer, respectively.

It would seem that the person taking the pictures could have had all the candidates in attendance get a group photo. Was that not possible? Did it really take 2 people to a tray? I can’t stand to see these photos that only push an agenda. A fair and accurate story would have listed everyone in attendance! The candidates who were also there were Fred Glynn for Mayor, Dr. Tim Hannon for City Council at Large, Dave Hommel for City Council SE District, Angela Swenson for Carmel City Judge, and Matt Milam for City Council SW district.
Seemed like a great event, but only half of it was covered. It would be nice if the person taking the photos would be fair and include all candidates.
You need to send someone who can fairly cover the entire event! Continuing to post one sided coverage shows your bias and what a lazy photographer you seem to have.
