The Noblesville Elks Lodge #576 is sponsoring a resident appreciation event for Veterans who live in Lincoln Apartments Community in Indianapolis. The Indianapolis Lodge #13 merged with Noblesville’s #576 Lodge years back.
This housing community is funded in part by the Department of Housing and Urban Development qualifications for residency, which includes being a disabled veteran as well as being homeless or at great risk of facing homelessness.
Presently, there are 75 units housing over 80 people, and the community is 100 percent occupied. The Noblesville Elks is using a grant for which it qualified from the Elks’ National Foundation to fund the event. The “Spotlight Grant” places a spotlight on servicing veterans in need. The Elks pride themselves on serving those who have served them.
The funds have been used to stock the on-site Food Pantry, as well as the Hygiene Pantry, which residents have available to them to use at their leisure at the property. Additionally, the Noblesville Elks have assembled and provided welcome home kits complete with cleaning supplies for the units as well as other basic living accoutrements for newer residents.
Elks members will also provide pizzas for the veterans at the event. The event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 15. Members will be at the community to help stock the pantries, serve food, and thank the veterans for their service.
