December 6, 1939 – December 25, 2020
Linda Lou Landis, 81, Noblesville, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020 at Grand Brook Memory Care in Fishers. She was born on December 6, 1939 to Arthur and Louise Sickbert in Huntingburg, Ind.
Linda was a school bus driver for Mt. Vernon School Corporation during the 1980s. She then worked for Naval Avionics in Indianapolis and retired from the Fort Harrison Finance Center in 2005. Linda was a licensed beautician and used her training to cut hair part time at home to keep in touch with her close friends. Linda enjoyed gardening and canning produce at home. She spent a lot of time in the kitchen cooking with and for her family, because she welcomed everyone with a smile and made them feel at home. This was instilled in her by growing up in a household of nine siblings and later cooking with her mother-in-law. Linda and her late husband, Veldon Landis, raised horses for trail riding. They often travelled and camped for trail rides where they enjoyed dancing and relaxing with friends. Linda was an avid collector of antiques and spent countless hours with friends and family tracking down her favorite “knickknacks.”
She is survived by her children, Todd Brown, Jeff Brown, Andrew (Liz) Brown and Jennifer (Mike) Chadwell; step-children, Sharron Landis, Karron Monroe, David Landis and Valerie Castetter; five grandchildren; brothers, Arthur Jr. (Lillian) Sickbert and Herman Sickbert, along with several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her husband, Veldon Landis, in 2009; and siblings, Erma Heim, Melvin Sickbert, Victor Sickbert, Ed Sickbert, Chester Sickbert, Mary Weyer and Warren Sickbert.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville, with visitation from 11 a.m. to the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date at Crownland Cemetery in Noblesville.
