Lighting of the Square kicks off holiday season in Noblesville

Residents of Noblesville and beyond are invited to witness the Lighting of the Square at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27. This family-friendly outdoor celebration will usher in the official start to the holiday season and cap off Small Business Saturday.

In partnership with Hamilton County and the help of the City of Noblesville, the Lighting of the Square will commence with the flip of a switch by Santa Claus and his special Hamilton County family, selected through a social media contest. Tens of thousands of twinkling lights will illuminate trees and buildings, ushering in the magic of Christmas.

Santa will make a live appearance for the first time to the lighting ceremony, courtesy of the Hamilton County Historical Society. He’ll greet children in the Santa House after the lighting. Another special Hamilton County family will be first in line to meet Santa, selected by a social media contest.

The program includes brief remarks from county government representatives, choral singers from Noblesville First United Methodist Church, a traditional sing-along, and more. Hot chocolate will be available to keep everyone cozy and warm.

The social media contest will award two families with special privileges. To enter, just share an act of kindness or moment of gratitude by emailing info@noblesvillechamber.org or by mentioning @NoblesvilleChamber on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Before Saturday’s festivities, the Chamber will select two families to help throw the switch to light the square and to join Santa as the “First Family” in his house on the square immediately after the lighting of the square.

While the lighting ceremony begins at 6 p.m., Small Business Saturday starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27 with wonderful holiday activities planned, including:

  • Impactful shopping
  • Decorated storefront windows
  • Discounts and sales
