Dear Editor:
I am a lifelong resident of Noblesville. I attended Conner School (no longer there), Noblesville Junior High School (now an office building on Conner Street), and graduated from Noblesville High School (now Ivy Tech). I preface this to say, I am committed to my hometown and our school system. My children as well as my grandchildren have or are in our schools.
The value we need to place on education is of utmost importance. Although we citizens have a great deal to be proud of, there is still room for improvement.
With rising costs of all goods, it is understandable that the school finances are important to explore. Forty-seven percent of our property taxes contribute to a $146 million budget. As with our own personal bills, we have to prioritize and spend wisely.
Having spent time with the three new and conservative candidates, David Dawson, Alison Hanley, and Brad Helvey, have convinced me that they are the right choice. They have mapped out their plan to be fiscally responsible with our money while still supporting our teachers as well as the academic and sports programs.
I encourage you to research their backgrounds, attend any of their meet and greet opportunities, and ask them the tough questions.
