Republican Leah York, lifelong Carmel resident, owner of a nonprofit focused consulting firm, and member of the Carmel Board of Zoning Appeals, has filed to run in the Carmel City Council Central District caucus to replace former councilor Bruce Kimball, who died on Dec. 30, 2022.

“I am uniquely positioned in this caucus because I am the only one with the experience to hit the ground running on day one,” York said. “I have been attending the twice-monthly city council meetings for over two years. I also attend Board of Zoning Appeals, Redevelopment Commission, Planning Commission, Council Finance Committee, and Land-Use Committee meetings. I meet with business owners and residents in this District regularly to listen and better understand their needs.”
York says she plans to make the safety of all those who live, work, or do business in Carmel her top priority while on the City Council, and she says she wants to ensure that Carmel’s public safety departments have the resources and tools to be prepared to deter or respond to any threats in the community.
“I plan to have a continual open dialogue with residents,” York said. “I pride myself on being a highly accessible and transparent leader.”
Aside from owning Talbott Talent, York is the chair of the OneZone Women’s Network of the OneZone Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of The O’Connor House, and a volunteer for the Carmel Farmers Market.
