The Hamilton Southeastern girls basketball team lost a battle between two Class 4A top 10 teams on Tuesday, as the No. 1 Royals fell at No. 8 Lawrence North 69-65.
The Wildcats jumped out to a 16-6 lead after one quarter. Southeastern slowly made up ground on Lawrence North during the remainder of the game, cutting its lead to 49-43 after three periods, but the Wildcats were able to stay ahead for the win.
Kayla Stidham scored 28 points to lead the Royals, making three 3-pointers and also collecting seven rebounds. Maya Makalusky scored 28 points and pulled five rebounds. Kennedy Holman dished out nine assists.
Southeastern is 17-2 and hosts Zionsville on Friday as part of a Hoosier Crossroads Conference doubleheader.
