Latest Westfield road construction updates

191st Street & Tomlinson Road

Exciting news: the roundabout at 191st and Tomlinson is getting some updates.

Multiple lanes can flow through the roundabout from both the eastbound and westbound directions. Plus, there will now be a dedicated lane for northbound drivers turning right. These improvements will help handle more traffic and keep things moving smoothly.

Tomlinson Road widening

Tomlinson Road began a full closure of the roadway between 196th Street and Chatham Hills Boulevard on Sept. 3.

Residents between 196th and 199th streets will still be able to access their homes through the construction site via southbound Tomlinson Road, but it will be closed to thru traffic. Residents may use 199th Street to Tomlinson Road to access their homes.

The detour route will be via 191st Street, Horton Road, and 206th Street/Cox Avenue. This closure is expected to last until late October.

156th Street

Citizens Energy Group is installing a new eight-inch gas main. The first phase begins at CEG’s plant (north side of East 156th Street, just west of the U.S. 31 underpass) and extends westward to Viking Meadows neighborhood entrance at 156th Street and Viking Meadows Drive.

The second phase begins at 156th Street and Viking Meadows Drive and continues westward to Oak Ridge Road. Installation will then turn north and run along Oak Ridge Road up to 161st Street. The entire project will involve a single-lane restriction with traffic flaggers.

CEG is hopeful to finish by the end of October.
