Career Days continue to engage Sheridan students with local businesses
Sheridan Youth Assistance Program (SYAP) held its third career exploration day of the 2023-2024 school year on Tuesday, Feb. 20. Careers in agriculture, animals and energy were featured and students in grades 7 to 12 learned about what kind of local jobs are available in this career sector.

Holiday Assistance Partnerships serve 358 neighbors in Sheridan
SYAP coordinated community efforts so that 358 individuals could receive Thanksgiving and/or Christmas assistance in 2023. Thanksgiving food boxes were provided by Good Samaritan Network. Christmas gifts for families were sponsored by individuals or businesses in collaboration with MAMA’s Cupboard. Christmas assistance for seniors was sponsored by Sheridan United Methodist Church. Food-only gift cards were funded by Meijer Westfield.
SYAP is proud to be a part of such a collaborative effort to make sure everyone has a wonderful holiday season in Sheridan.
2023 Annual Impact Report
Did you know … in 2023, the Sheridan Youth Assistance Program:
- Served 21 percent of the current enrollment of Sheridan Community Schools
- Had 76 referrals for case management
- Provided after school tutoring for 140 students
- Provided assistance for 41 middle and high school students to participate in choir, band, FFA, and every athletic program offered at SCS.
- Ensured 68 elementary students were able to participate in sports programs and activities sponsored by Sheridan Community Recreation
