Langford, New Albany pull away from ‘Hounds

One of the most highly-anticipated boys basketball games to take place at Carmel’s Eric Clark Activity Center lived up to the hype Saturday night.
The Greyhounds hosted New Albany and its superstar Romeo Langford, and battled the Class 4A No. 4 Bulldogs well into the fourth quarter. But New Albany pulled away in the final period and would leave Carmel with a 59-48 victory in front of a sellout crowd.
The first three quarters were back and forth. The ‘Hounds led 11-8 after the first period, with the Bulldogs jumping ahead 21-18 by halftime. New Albany then took a third quarter lead before Carmel roared back to tie the game at 35-all after three quarters.
But the Bulldogs pulled away from Carmel at the free-throw line during a 24-point fourth quarter. Jenkins led Carmel with 17 points and also made four steals.
John Michael Mulloy scored 11 points and pulled seven rebounds, with Andrew Owens adding 10 points and collecting five rebounds. Luke Heady handed out four assists.
Langford led all scorers, finishing the game with 19 points.
Carmel is now 4-3 for the season and is off until Dec. 28 when it travels to Anderson.
