Lacrosse: Southeastern boys beat Guerin Catholic, Carmel girls take down Brebeuf Jesuit

The Hamilton Southeastern boys lacrosse team won an all-county match with Guerin Catholic on Wednesday.

The defending Class 2A state champion Royals won 15-0 over last year’s 1A runner-up. Southeastern’s Colin Krekeler got the shutout as goalkeeper. Nick Weber collected seven ground balls for the Royals, with Dillon O’Rourke, Teddy Johnson and Brody Carlson each picking up three ground balls. Weber and Gavin Wright combined for 13-3 on face-offs.

Max Kemp put in six goals to lead Southeastern’s offense and also dished out two assists. David Gould scored three goals, and Gavin Berry had two goals and two assists.

The Royals are 4-0 and plays two games in Cincinnati this weekend. Southeastern plays at Moeller today and at St. Xavier on Sunday.

The Carmel girls lacrosse team sailed past Brebeuf Jesuit 14-2 in a Thursday game.

The Greyhounds led 11-0 at halftime. Tori Tomalia scored five goals and also had five draw controls. Breckin Hare added three goals and an assist, with Avery Goehl and Anna Dumke both putting in two goals.

Pey Henney and Olivia Slowey completed the scoring with one goal each. Sophie Mock handed out three assists. Elle Tomalia picked up three ground balls and forced two turnovers.

Carmel hosts Guerin Catholic on Tuesday in a re-match of last year’s Class 2A state championship game.
