Lacrosse: Royals get the edge over Cathedral

The Hamilton Southeastern girls lacrosse team won a close game over Cathedral on Monday, 13-12.

The Royals played strong both on defense and in transition, which led to 20 ground balls and five forced turnovers. Seniors Sydney Schena and Alexis Green both had three ground balls, while Alex Dean collected two ground balls. Schena and Dean both made one forced turnover, and Dean also had an assist.

Ellie Nawa was all over the place for Southeastern. She had 11 draw controls, five ground balls and forced one turnover, then added two goals and two assists on offense. Junior Jessie Lyons had five goals to lead the Royals scoring. Sophomore Sarah Gastineau had three goals and three ground balls, and junior Brooke Daugherty had two goals. Sophomore Evelynn Armstrong added one goal, and also had two draw controls and a forced turnover.

Other notables included Emma Reichert and Reese Bradley with two draw controls each, Sidney Sloan with one assist and one ground ball, and Samantha Kim with two draw controls and a forced turnover.

Southeastern hosts Noblesville on Thursday.
