Lacrosse: Noblesville boys, girls teams get wins

The Noblesville boys lacrosse team came back to beat Park Tudor 10-8 in a Monday game at Beaver Materials Field.
The Panthers scored first, early in the first quarter. The Millers’ Blaine McNabb tied it up with a goal at the 8:21 mark of the period, but Park Tudor scored again for a 2-1 lead by the end of the quarter.
The Panthers then went up 5-1 in the second period, but Noblesville began its run late in the quarter, with goals by Doug Welkey and Aaron Bell coming within 40 seconds of each other. That cut Park Tudor’s lead to 5-3 by halftime.
The Millers then quickly tied the game in the third quarter. Skyler Tolliver scored 26 seconds into the second half, then Jacob Purvis knotted the game with his goal at the 9:05 mark. The Panthers took the lead back during the period, but another Tolliver goal tied it up again, then Tyler Roberts scored with 22 seconds left in the quarter, putting Noblesville up 7-6.
Purvis opened the fourth period by scoring 48 seconds into the quarter. The Millers held the lead from there, with Tolliver and Roberts both adding goals.
“They played with more patience and were able to bounce back a bit after a few tough losses to some of the best teams in the state,” said Noblesville coach Mark Milam. “Park Tudor played hard and should be very proud of their performance.”
The Millers are 2-3 for the season.

Noblesville’s girls lacrosse team won an all-county game with Guerin Catholic on Tuesday 9-7.
The Millers went up 2-0 to start the game, but the Golden Eagles came back to tie things up at 2-2. The teams exchanged goals before Noblesville added two more to take a 5-3 halftime lead.
In the second half, the Millers went up 6-3 before GC put in three goals in a row to tie the game again. But Noblesville answered with three straight goals of their own.
Emma Potter scored six goals for the Millers, and also had five ground balls, five forced turnovers and four draw controls. Chloe Barnett added two goals and got two ground balls, while Mallory Miller added one goal in addition to one ground ball and one forced turnover. Chaney Cornell had two ground balls and two forced turnovers. Maddie Reel had nine total saves, including four saves on five free position shots and two ground balls.
Carly Wilson scored three goals for the Golden Eagles, with Caroline Kosiba adding two. Ella Bellflower and Alexandra Soucie each scored one goal. Claire Alic and Soucie each had three draw controls, while Emma Smith and Soucie both got three ground balls.

The Hamilton Southeastern boys lacrosse team picked up two wins last weekend.
On March 19, the Royals beat Carmel 13-9. Southeastern led 5-3 after the first quarter and 9-6 at halftime. Ryan Kemp scored four goals during the first half, followed by EJ Reichert with two and Logan Askins, Louden Sundling and Connor Runhow all scored one.
Runhow then poured in three goals in the second half, giving him a total of four for the game. Garrett Smith also scored a goal. Nolan Knies, Evan Wang and Ty DeSplinter all had strong defensive games. Max Blackburn and Kyle Brenner combined for seven ground balls.
The next day (Saturday), Southeastern won its Senior Night game over Penn 20-1. The Royals led 11-0 at halftime.
Reichert led the way with six goals, followed by Kemp and Tate Medcalfe with three each and Sundling with two. Jake Robeson and Hayden Grace both collected six ground balls and Miles Tudor caused three turnovers.
Meanwhile, Carmel rebounded from its loss to beat Crown Point 25-3 on Saturday and Westfield 21-3 on Tuesday. Ethan Hall had six saves for the Greyhounds in their victory over the Shamrocks.

Carmel’s girls lacrosse team won a Thursday game over Fishers 16-0 at Murray Stadium.
Maddie McGarty scored four goals and handed out one assist to lead the Greyhounds offense. Julia Cherubini had three goals and Hannah Kim added three goals and one assist. Goalkeepers Kristyn Jenkins and Emma Mallon recorded the shutout.
