Volunteers needed to help serve aging adults in Hamilton County

Shepherd’s Center of Hamilton County is in need of volunteers to allow adults age 55 and over to live independently with dignity in their own homes for as long as safely possible.

Studies show that most older adults wish to remain independent and age in place. This goal is challenging when you are struggling with a disability, chronic illness, dementia, limited financial means, and/or are isolated from loved ones. Shepherd’s Center volunteers work to combat these obstacles by offering assistance with transportation, care package delivery, light home cleaning and maintenance, friendly visitors and emergency assistance.

“Volunteers have the power to change lives,” Programs Manager Lisa Albano said. “Our volunteers have a passion for giving back to seniors in their communities. People who volunteer feel rewarded and fulfilled.”

Volunteers complete background screenings and interview to ensure that they are best suited for helping older adults.

Information and trainings will be available from 8 to 9 a.m. on June 8, and from 7 to 8 p.m. on June 14.
