Kevin W. Emmert

March 6, 1949 – September 30, 2023

Kevin W. Emmert of Cicero passed away Saturday evening, September 30, 2023, after an extended battle with cancer. He left this world peacefully, surrounded by his family and in his own home, free from pain.

Kevin was born on March 6, 1949, in Noblesville to Bonnie L. and William “Bill” F. Emmert and was a lifelong resident of Hamilton County. He graduated from Noblesville High School in 1967 and followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a carpenter and working in various commercial and residential construction jobs. From 1974 through 1979 he worked for Conner Prairie Pioneer Settlement, helping to build “the Village.” He loved this job and learned much about historic preservation and construction methods which he used throughout his career. He later became a contractor and built custom homes in Hamilton and surrounding counties. There are many beautiful homes throughout the area that stand as a legacy to his skills and talent.

Kevin was an adventurer. He loved to travel, ride motorcycles, and find unique, out of the way spots no matter where he went. He had a lifetime of stories about a around the world backpacking trip with his wife, his solo motorcycle trips to Mexico, Guatemala, and around the U.S. and so much more. Many trips became an “adventure,” even if it was a quick trip to a state park.

Other than his family, perhaps Kevin’s greatest legacy is the number and quality of friendships he had. He made friends easily and maintained his friendships well. He had many lifelong friendships. Since retiring in 2019, he has played pickle ball, often five days a week and developed a great circle of friends whom he cherished and who cherished him. He always had a joke or a story to tell. The world is a little less funny without Kevin.

Kevin is survived by his wife of 44 years, Denise; sons, Dylan of Cicero and Logan of Portland, Ore.; sisters, Linda Stern of Noblesville and Kim LeCount of Chandler, Texas; sister-in-law, Diana Schmid of Carmel; an exchange student sister, Judith (John) Stewart of Auckland, New Zealand; nephew, Bill Stern (Laura) of Keller, Texas; niece, Amanda Williams (Norm) of Noblesville; niece, Brooke LeCount of Shreveport, La.; and nephew, Cory LeCount (Erin) of Tyler, Texas; as well as multiple cousins with whom he shared many childhood memories.

A celebration of Kevin’s life is planned for mid-December. Information will be provided as plans are made. Arrangements entrusted to Aaron Ruben Nelson Mortuary. Friends may leave a memory or message of condolence by visiting the online obituary at arnmortuary.com.
