Kenton Ward named “Outstanding County Surveyor”

Outgoing surveyor recognized for nearly 50 years of public service

The Association of Indiana Counties (AIC) named Hamilton County Surveyor Kenton Ward Outstanding County Surveyor at its 66th Annual Conference in Switzerland County last week.

The conference, themed “Moving Indiana Forward,” brought together county officials and stakeholders from across the state for a week of workshops, networking, and an awards banquet.

Ward has served as the Hamilton County Surveyor since 1977. He will retire at the end of this year. Ward’s proactive approach and expertise in floodplain management and erosion control have garnered him several accolades, including the prestigious Arthur R. Himsel Award in 2009, the highest honor the AIC bestows. This is the third time Ward has been selected for the AIC’s Outstanding County Surveyor Award.

“This recognition reflects Kenton’s commitment to excellence in surveying and land management,” said Nancy Marsh, Hendricks County Auditor and AIC Board President. “He has consistently demonstrated leadership and duty to his profession, making significant contributions to the community and state.”

Mark Heirbrandt, President of the Hamilton County Commissioners and a Commissioners Association Past President, praised Ward’s accomplishments.

“Kent’s unwavering dedication to our county and his tireless public service have greatly benefited Hamilton County,” he said.
