K9 Harlej’s killer gets 7 years

Richard Garrett, the person who killed Fishers police dog Harlej, was sentenced to seven years in jail on Tuesday after entering into a plea bargain on numerous charges.

K9 Harlej was shot and killed by Garrett following a police pursuit and manhunt last November.

As part of the plea bargain several charges against Garrett were dismissed.

  9. Resisting Law Enforcement def. knowingly or intentionally flees from law enforcement: Dismissed
  10. Carrying a Handgun Without a License: Dismissed
  11. Unauthorized Entry of a Motor Vehicle: Dismissed
  12. Possession of Marijuana: Dismissed
  13. Reckless Driving Drive at unreasonably high or low speed so to endanger safety: Dismissed
  14. Reckless Driving Drive in and out of a line of traffic except as otherwise permitted: Dismissed
