The Hamilton Southeastern junior varsity boys track and field team won a three-team meet on Thursday.
The Royals scored 70 points to Noblesville’s 43 and Westfield’s 42. Southeastern ended victorious with top performers in the following events: John Nigh in the 110 and 300 hurdles, KJ Gomez in the 100 and 200 dashes, Emilio Rios-Rojas in the 400 dash, Manny Daniels in the long jump, Alex Cluff in the pole vault (leading an HSE sweep) and the 4×400 relay.
Event winners for Westfield included the 4×100 relay team of Killian Benich, Sean Sykes, Mason Piening, and Owen McGraw, Jacob Netral in the discus, and Andrew Pazdernik in the shot put. Also scoring for the Shamrocks were Carson Glass in the 100 hurdles, McGraw in the 100 and 200 dashes, Johnny McClure in the 1600, David Frey in the 400 and long jump, Jacob Beene and Tyler Smith in the 800, Christian Huisden in the 200, Joe Barnett in the 3200, Ross Krieg and Pazdernik in the discus, and Netral and Alex Juarez in the shot put.
Noblesville results were not available.
The Westfield junior varsity girls track and field team hosted the Westfield JV Invite featuring Hoosier Crossroads Conference rivals Noblesville and Hamilton Southeastern on Thursday.
In the field events, freshman Sydney Black stood out scoring two first-place finishes in the jumps, both long and high. Black leaped for a height of 4-2 in the high jump while going 16-2.5 in the long jump, a new personal record. Lauren Harvey also achieved a 4-2 height in the high jump.
In the discus throw, sophomores Julia Rohlfing and Madison Dowden achieved new personal bests with throws in the 60-feet range. Freshman Alison McEvoy earned a fifth place finish with her effort in the shot put.
In the realm of distance, freshman Ashley Baldwin won the 1600 run in a time of 5:51.89. Teammates Brown and McNeely earned two & three respectively in the 3200 run.
On the sprints side of the track, freshman Hailey Boehm put in two victorious performances in both the 100 and 300 hurdles. Sophomore Noelle Naughton also ran her way to a fourth-place finish in the 400 dash.
The Shamocks will return to competition at home against Fishers on Tuesday. The meet will serve as Senior Night as well.
