Juanita Carney, 101, Eminence, formerly of Cicero, passed away on Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Meadow Lakes of Mooresville. She was born on May 3, 1918 on her grandparents’ farm in Pittsboro. Juanita was the oldest child of three of William Isaac Dale and Alma (Scott) Dale, and was blessed with a brother named Paul and a sister named Freda.

Juanita Dale met the love of her life and married Kenneth Carney on June 28, 1936. Over the course of her life, she lived in Lizton, Noblesville, Indianapolis, Cicero and Eminence, Ind. Juanita lived most of her life on a farm near Cicero. She was married for 55 years until her beloved Kenneth passed away in 1991. They were blessed with three children, Roberta, Gene and Herman. Her two oldest children have passed, and she had lived with her remaining son, Herman, from 2008 until 2017. Juanita has six grandchildren, Whitney Gates, Marc Carney, Debbie Harrel, Wes Castor, Kate Robbins and Quentin Carney. She also has 10 great-grandchildren.

During most of her marriage, Juanita worked on their small farm with chickens, horses, sheep, goats and cattle. She also worked for Blann Hardward for 10 years in Noblesville, spent 14 years at Dairy Queen in Cicero, and retired from Noblesville McDonalds at the age of 82. Juanita’s favorite pastimes include reading her Bible and Guideposts, and knitting and crocheting until she lost most of her eyesight. Some interests during her life included gardening and horseback riding.

Juanita was a woman of faith. She had attended several churches in Noblesville in the past. She was currently a member of the Eminence Christian Church in Eminence, Ind. Juanita believed that the people of her age grew up in the “Best of Years.” Her generation has seen the horse and buggy days, the early years of cars, airplanes, rockets, and even trips to the Moon and outer space.
