The Democratic caucus of Senate District 21 precinct chairs has selected Josh Lowry of Westfield as the candidate to face Republican incumbent Jim Buck in the November general election.
“I want my kids to be raised in an Indiana where they have more rights than I grew up with – not less,” Lowry said. “I’ll stand up for all Hoosiers and fight against discrimination in all forms. I’ll be a voice for the people of Indiana and not corporations and lobbies. I’ll fight for schools, students, and teachers, not culture wars.”
“Not only is Sen. Buck heavily involved with the ultra-conservative legislation mill ALEC, he played a key role in removing the Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction as an elected position and pushed against early pandemic precautions. In short, he doesn’t have Hoosiers’ best interests in mind,” Hamilton County Democratic Party Chair Dayna Colbert said. “We are very excited to welcome Josh Lowry to the ballot. We look forward to giving Hoosiers the opportunity to vote for someone who is willing to put Hoosiers first.”
Lowry is currently an attorney for Paganelli Law Group where he practices civil litigation. He was also previously a Deputy Attorney General for the Indiana Attorney General’s Office where he was a trial lawyer and practiced constitutional law.
He will kick off his campaign with a campaign launch event from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 21 at Asa Bales Park 205 W. Hoover St., Westfield.
Lowry was born and raised in Martinsville. He went to IU Bloomington where he met his future wife, Alexis. Josh and Alexis moved to Westfield in 2009, where Alexis grew up. Alexis’s family has lived in Westfield for generations and is the place they wanted to raise their family. Unable to have kids of their own, they have fostered 11 kids, and adopted four.
