Jon H Cox, Yogi to his friends, 82, Arcadia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 2024, with his family by his side.
Jon was born in Noblesville on March 25, 1942, to the late Cedric “Tommy” and Martha (Morgan) Cox.
On October 31, 1964, he married Lesley Warner, and they shared almost 60 years of marriage.
Jon is survived by his wife, Lesley Cox of Arcadia; son, Jon A. (Melissa) Cox; daughter, Jamie (Tim) Cox Mitchell; grandchildren, Jacob (Morgan) Mitchell, Caleb Mitchell, and Kayanna Cox; and great-grandson, Forrest Mitchell.
Jon graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1960. He served four years in the Air Force in Plattsburgh, N.Y. He retired from Guide Lamp in Anderson, Ind., where he was very active in UAW Local Union 663, most recently serving as Chairman of Retirees. He was also an active member of American Legion Post 212 in Lapel where he served as Sergeant at Arms.
A casual Celebration of Life took place on Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Hartley Funeral Home, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero. A military service followed.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Legion Post 212, 1600 Main St., Lapel, IN 46051, in memory of Jon “Yogi” Cox would be welcome.
Jon’s family has entrusted his cremation to Hartley Funeral Home.
