John W. Stilwell

November 25, 1939 – May 27, 2025

John W. Stilwell, 85, Carmel, passed away May 27, 2025. He was born November 25, 1939, in Marion, Ind., son of Wayne and Lucille (Moore) Stilwell.

As a graduate of Bennett High School in Marion, John continued his education at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. He and Miriam “Mimi” Miller were married on December 10, 1960.

He moved his family to Columbus, Ind., where he became the founder and owner of Pyramid Paper Products. While growing his business and giving to his community, John was awarded the Small Businessman Award in 1985. He was also an active member of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce.

John was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing and playing golf, proudly proclaimed his hole in one on three occasions. John was known for his great sense of humor and contagious personality. He deeply loved his four daughters.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sisters, Louise Courtney and Joan Burton; and son-in-law, John Martinelli.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 64 years, Mimi Stilwell; daughters, Anne Martinelli of Vero Beach, Fla., Maureen Stilwell (Dave Sliwinski) of Columbus, Ohio, Rosemary (Steve) McQueary of Nashville, Ind., and Katie Stilwell of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Jessie Boily, Jillian and Jack Martinelli, Will Sliwinski, Andy, Kyle, and Noah McQueary; three great-grandchildren, Rachel, Claire, and Trevor Boily.

Family and Friend will gather at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2025, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, of which John was a member, and where the Celebration of Life Service will begin at 3 p.m.

The family requests in memory of John, memorial contributions be given to the Salvation Army. Envelopes will be available at the service.
