John Thomas Post

John Thomas Post, 84, Noblesville, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024.

John was born March 24, 1940, in Marquette, Mich., to Howard Hadden and Gertrude Marie (Mason) Post.

He attended Graveraet High School with the Class of 1958. He then continued his studies at various corporate-sponsored training venues throughout his career in financial services.

John was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1957 to 1963.

John married Barbara Mae Hillberg on December 30, 1961, who passed away on September 25, 2017. Surviving is a son James (Teresa) Post of Denver, N.C.; daughters, Joanne Renfro of Noblesville and Emmy (James) Irwin of Noblesville; grandchildren, Mitchell (Jillian) Renfro, Bailee Renfro, Benjamin Irwin, Alec Irwin, Sophia Renfro, and Hadden Irwin; and great-grandchild, Clarke Renfro.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Gertrude Strope, and his brother, Robert Howard Post.

John did not know a stranger and was a wonderful friend to so many. John had a passion for serving others and was always committed to making a positive impact on those around him. John enjoyed the countless hours he volunteered with his Kiwanis Club, Key Club, Score Business Mentoring, individual financial guidance, and other community programs. Also, he assisted in an array of fundraising projects for businesses and organizations to help raise up those around him.

Above all else, John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, always making time to attend his grandchildren’s events, and then bragging about them for days on end.

Services will be held on Friday, May 17 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 410 S. Pearl St., Cicero. The gathering begins at 10:30 a.m. with services beginning at 10:45. A reception to celebrate John’s life will be held immediately following his service in the Parish Hall. Burial will occur at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Park Cemetery in Marquette, Mich.
