John Fulton Wall

March 19, 1947 – October 10, 2024

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” Genesis 1:1

“In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life and the life was the light of men.” John 1:1-4

John Fulton Wall, 77, Sheridan, passed away on Thursday morning, October 10, 2024, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville. Born March 19, 1947, in Indianapolis, he was the son of John Willis Wall and Dora Fulton. He lived in Kansas City, Mo.; Bloomington, Ill.; Zionsville; and Sheridan.

John graduated from Bloomington High School and then went on to earn his B.S. degree in Physics and Math from Monmouth College, Monmouth, Ill., in 1969.

He and his wife, Cornelia, were married on July 11, 1970, at the First Baptist Church in Port Jefferson, N.Y., and have been married for 54 years.

He worked for Indiana Bell Telephone Company, IBM, and Comcast Corporation as a UNIX System Administrator. He loved writing scripts for team members to aide them in the ease and speed of systems administration. If asked about a highlight in his career, he would say being a member of the team that developed our nation’s E-911 emergency system.

A life-long learner, John read extensively and reveled in a conversation about the Bible, history, politics, construction, or innovations in science.

Most of all, John had a heart to pass that love of learning on to others. He tutored several Sheridan students in math and taught government and catechism classes at Walnut Grove Christian School while serving on the board. As an elder for Zionsville Fellowship Church, Sheridan Fellowship Church, and Christ Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church, he immersed himself in studying Creation Science and Covenant Theology, teaching whenever asked.

John liked cars, traveling, and working on their Victorian home. He enjoyed welcoming many friends to their home and sharing it with people who needed a place to live for a while. He loved his family and every family gathering, especially when he was running his Lionel O Gauge trains with his seven grandchildren.

John is survived by his wife, Cornelia Kelly Wall. Also surviving him are daughter, Emily Marie Mourer (Greg) of Herndon, Va.; son, John Kelly “JK” Wall (Christina) of Indianapolis; son, Andrew Teel Wall (Alecia) of Hillsdale, Mich.; daughter, Bethany Elise Stough (Rusty) of Bangor, Maine; and seven grandchildren, Caleb E. Mourer, Ian R. Mourer, John W. Wall, Arthur A. Wall, Theodore W. Wall, Wallace A. Stough, and Audrey J. Stough.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at Christ Covenant Orthodox Presbyterian Church, 6070 N. 900 East, Sheridan. Burial will follow at Moore Cemetery, located next to the church. Pastor Phillip Frye will be officiating.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 7 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2024, at Kercheval Funeral Home, 306 E. 10th St., Sheridan.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Christ Covenant OPC.
