John E. Hazelwood Sr.

August 1, 1929 – November 14, 2017

John E. Hazelwood Sr., 88, Moores Hill, formerly of Noblesville, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at his home. He was born on August 1, 1929 to Lovell and Elva (Williams) Hazelwood in Leitchfield, Ky.

John was a mechanical engineer who owned AAI in Fishers. He was an inventor who held five patents and loved science and reading about science and outer space. John was involved with Boy Scouts Troop 104 of Cambridge City and enjoyed fishing, nature, camping, sailing and water skiing. He enjoyed photography and tinkering with new devices and ideas. John was also a woodworker, loved going to old engine shows and collected old cameras and guns, mostly muzzle loaders. He loved good food and going out to eat.

John is survived by his children, Judith A. (David Sr.) Barnes, John E. (Julie) Hazelwood Jr., Sandra L. (Richard) Hewett, Michael J. (Ann) Hazelwood, Susan K. (Wil) Hammack and Cynthia L. Hazelwood; 13 grandchildren, Mary, Elizabeth, Davie, Christine, Cheryl, John, Wendy, Vanessa, Matthew, Kimberley, Carolee, Patty and Jamie; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and his significant other, Beverly Su Brown.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernice Hazelwood; and his second wife, Judy Hazelwood.

Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Randall & Roberts Funeral Home, 1150 Logan St., Noblesville, with visitation from 4:30 p.m. to the time of service. Rev. Stanley R. Sutton will officiate. Burial will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Crown Hill Cemetery, 407 Short St., Centerville, IN.
