November 26, 1949 – June 27, 2023
Jeannine Rae Combest, 73, Indianapolis, formerly of Elkhart, Ind., was called home by our Lord on June 27, 2023, after suffering a short illness. She was at peace and looking forward to being with her beloved husband and best friend, Mike. They were married on September 30, 1972. Michael was called home on November 2, 2009.
Her life began November 26, 1949, in Goshen, Ind. She was born to Harold Sr. and Vera (Murray) Knowles (may they rest in peace). Jeannine was the baby of her family of four. Preceding her in death was her oldest brother, Jim Knowles (may he rest in peace). She is survived lovingly by her brother, Bill Knowles and sister, Janice (Dan) Ryan. She was raised in Shipshewana and graduated from Westview High School. Jeannine was one of the finest employees of the Kroger Company, managing in many aspects of the deli bakeries. She retired after 37 years of service. Jeannine was a sports fan, loved NASCAR racing, Indianapolis Colts, and college basketball. She was quick-witted and enjoyed sharing laughter!
Jeannine is also, most lovingly survived by her daughter, Penny Henderson and three beautiful granddaughters and two precious great-grandchildren. We pray all her loved ones find peace in this difficult time and will find comfort in all the good memories.
A graveside service will be held at noon on Monday, July 10 at the Keightley Cemetery in Shipshewana, Ind.
