Janus welcomes three to Board of Directors

Janus has announced the addition of three new members to its Board of Directors. Thank you to everyone who has and is currently serving on the Board. These three newest members will bring their valuable backgrounds to the table.

Jamie Campbell

Campbell

Campbell is a retired career deputy prosecutor, married to Joe Vaughn since December of 1986 and the mother of Ethan and Casey Vaughn.

Campbell and her family moved to Carmel from Miami, Fla., in 1995. Casey is 28 and lives in Philadelphia. Ethan is autistic, non-verbal and has always participated in Special Ed, including services and support. He has the “big waiver” and lives in a supported apartment with a roommate. When Ethan finished high school, his family looked at all options for him, with Janus being one. It was readily apparent that Janus was the place he loved and the place where he belonged.

Campbell says now that she is retired, she is honored to be able to try to give back some of what Janus has contributed to her family.

Jill Dunn

Dunn

Metalsmithing is a second career for Jill Dunn and one that has been defined by her past experiences. She spent 42 years working with special needs children and adults who were intellectually delayed and seriously mentally ill at a not-for-profit where she served as the CEO. Her days were filled with problem solving where she relied on creative thinking in order to build and preserve the mission of the organization.

As her first career was winding down, Dunn found herself drawn to the arts. During undergraduate school, she studied studio art and psychology and then went on to graduate school in business and organizational management. She started her art studies in painting, but in later years enjoyed working with silver, brass and copper and shaping the metal into jewelry, adding stones, textures and patinas.

Dunn grew up in the Detroit, Mich. Area, and the influence of her heritage and culture exposed her to Holocaust survivors and WWII veterans. Many of the stories and challenges that were shared and experienced had a lifelong influence on the artist. Her work reflects textures of the visions of the past with the influence of the Expressionism and Impressionism periods of art.

Dunn’s family also has a great impact on her as her four children and husband are great supporters and will occasionally provide valuable input. Daily influences of the news, her surroundings, the love of trees and plants and color all provide a palate of information.

Dunn is a graduate of Michigan State University with a BA and a MA. She is a member of the prestigious Indiana Artisan, and she is a two-time recipient of the Sagamore of the Wabash.

Dunn resides in Carmel with her husband and two energetic Wire Hair Fox Terriers.
