James Vincel Biddle, 83, Arcadia, passed away on June 22, 2022, at his home with his family at his side.
He was born April 29, 1939, near Frankfort, Ind., to Clark and Eva Mae (Zetterberg) Biddle. He attended Tipton County schools and graduated from Tipton High School with the Class of 1957.
James then honorably served his country in the U.S. Army for four years. He continued serving his country for 32 years in the U.S. Army Reserves where he was a drill sergeant training numerous troops. He also worked for Steel Parts Corporation in Tipton for over 41 years.
He was a long-time member and past commander at Tipton American Legion. He was also a member of the Tipton Moose Lodge, Tipton Elks Lodge, and the German-American Club. He loved working in his garden and taking good care of his yard. Leisure time would find James watching western films, especially those who starred John Wayne. He also loved to travel and visited many of America’s National Parks plus several European countries.
He married Christa Joan (Wolf) Biddle, who preceded him in death. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Johanna Funfer; two grandchildren, Andy Rose and Cindy Schafer; sister, Shirley Brown; and brothers, Daniel, Robert and Allen Biddle.
Survivors include daughters, Jeanette (David) Haskall of Greenfield, Ind., Sandra (Scott) Deig of Fishers, and Helena (Jayson) Fasbender of Arcadia; a brother, Leon Biddle of Arcadia; and a sister, Beulah Baker of Arcadia; grandchildren, Bryce, Sam, Erick, Michael, Shannon, Jessica, Michael David, Christopher, Kevin, Martina, and Svenja, plus several great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero, with a time of visitation from 3 p.m. until time of the services. Burial will occur at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Tipton.
