J. Keith Owens announces run for Westfield Washington school board

Submitted

J. Keith Owens has filed to run for the District 3 seat for the Westfield Washington school board.

Owens

Owens is married to his wife Allison. They have two boys, Evan and Sam, who attend Shamrock Springs Elementary School. Owens and his family relocated to Westfield in 2017 in no small part due to what he calls an exceptional school system.

Owens has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Purdue University and works as a software developer at Kiwanis International. He has a history of serving in non-profit leadership roles. He serves on his HOA board, coaches soccer through WYSA, and enjoys volunteering at various community events.

Owens says the focus of his campaign is helping the Westfield school system grow in a more fiscally conservative manner, adopting a philosophy of paying off current debt rather than accruing new debt, and providing better resources for the community to stay informed. He says he is committed to asking tough questions, reviewing new projects with a skeptical lens, using data to make decisions, and helping to give residents the information they need to feel confident in the decisions the school board is making.
