November 11, 1921 – July 31, 2019
Iva Gertrude King, 97, Tipton, and formerly of Arcadia, passed away July 31, 2019 at Miller’s Merry Manor at Tipton. She was born November 11, 1921 in Westfield to William Cullen and Nellie Marie (Caylor) Bryant.
Iva was a homemaker who greatly enjoyed her role as wife, mother and grandmother. Her entire family was sports-oriented and she helped them practice and attended their games that included softball, baseball and volleyball. Her daughters said she often had bruises on her legs from her catching their pitches as they practiced with her. She also enjoyed gardening, baking and sewing.
She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Arcadia.
She married Fred D. King on February 16, 1946. He preceded her in death May 24, 1997. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings.
Surviving her is a son, Jeffrey L. King, Indianapolis; daughters, Pamela Sue Ireland, Arcadia, Freda Jo King, Noblesville, Debbie Kay (Bryan) Provence, Arcadia, and Bonnie Lou Akers, Pendleton; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 2, 2019 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 355 S. Shaffer St., Arcadia, with Pastor Tom Ludwig officiating. Burial will follow at the Arcadia Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of the services.
