The REPORTER

If the performances at the Hoosier Crossroads Conference indoor track and field are any indication, this season could be a good one for the HCC teams.

The Noblesville girls claimed the team championship at the meet, which took place last Friday at DePauw University. The Millers won four events, including a new meet record for the 4×800 relay. The team finished the race in a time of 9 minutes, 33.36 seconds. Noblesville also got victories in the high jump from Malina Miller and the 4×400 relay.

Hamilton Southeastern placed third with 90 points, behind runner-up Brownsburg’s 104 points. The Royals were led by Elizabeth Butler, who set a new record in the 3200 run by clocking in at 10:47.03. Makenzie Loftin claimed the 60 hurdles.

Fishers placed fourth with 74 points. Maya Taylor was a winner in the 60 dash. Westfield had one event winner: The Shamrocks finished first in the distance medley relay.

In the boys meet, the Tigers scored the most team points with 65 points, placing them third. Robert Seay was a winner in the 60 dash.

Westfield placed fourth by scoring 64 points. The Shamrocks had two runner-up finishes: Robert Campbell took second in the high jump, as did Westfield’s 4×400 relay. The Shamrocks’ 4×800 relay squad placed third, but finished under the old meet record.

Noblesville had two event winners, starting with Will Johnston. He won the pole vault with a best leap of 14 feet, 3 inches, a new meet record. Caden Click was first in the 3200 run. Hamilton Southeastern’s Lamine Sall won the long jump.
