Isaac Peterson signs with Grace College

Isaac Peterson, Hamilton Heights’ senior, has committed to play baseball for the Grace College Lancers this fall. Grace College is a member of the Crossroads League. He is the son of Al and Sheri Peterson.
Isaac Peterson said he chose Grace College because it can provide him with a good Christian atmosphere in a small, close-knit community filled with some of the nicest people you can ever meet – perfect with my personality. “It also gives me the opportunity to continue to play baseball while pursuing a good education,” said Peterson, who plans to study environmental sciences for a career in conservation or a related field. “It’s also home to some great fishing!”
Peterson, the Huskies starting pitcher, has loved baseball for as far back as he can remember. He’s played on several high-level travel teams and trained by several pitching coaches. In addition, playing three years of football for the Huskies helped keep him in prime condition all year.
At 6-1, Peterson, who received the Mental Attitude Award his freshman year, has a strong presence on the mound and in the field. Invited to and contributed to the win of the 2015 Game Day USA Tournament, he made many contributions to the Huskies in various positions during his tenure.
“I have had many inspirational and talented coaches over the years, but it was Matt Wallace who initially helped develop my pitching skills,” said Peterson. Wallace, who helped Peterson with his pitching form and style, would ultimately become his high school coach his freshman through junior years. Peterson also put in his share of hard work and training which helped pave the way to collegiate level play.
Kurt Ogden, Hamilton Heights athletic director, said he’s gotten to know Ike as a member of the Student Athletic Council and he is very impressed with his leadership. “He is a strong student academically and a tremendous role model for all other athletes,” continued Ogden. “Grace College is getting an outstanding student, baseball player, and person.”
“I am really happy for Isaac,” said J.R. Moffatt, Hamilton Heights head baseball coach. “Grace is getting a good, solid young man. I have known Isaac for a long time and have watched him grow and mature into an outstanding servant leader. Even apart from baseball, he is a can’t-miss prospect for Grace. Baseball wise, I couldn’t be more excited for this coming season. Ike will fill roles at third base and pitching for us. He is a solid player and I expect him to have a great year. I also expect great things for him as he moves into his role as a college player.”
Peterson, a strong student athlete, is a member of the Arcadia Christian Church, National Honor Society, Student Athletic Advisory Council, a Husky Ambassador and volunteers annually at the Peterson Farmfest.
