Dear Editor:

I am truly saddened to hear that so many churches are going to close their doors on Christmas Day. I thought the real reason for Christmas was to celebrate the Birth of Jesus.

I think it is great that many churches are having Christmas Eve services, but the most important day is Christmas Day when God sent His only Son into this world to help us be strong in troubling times. And if you don’t think things are in trouble today, then you need to look around and see how many people – even some of your neighbors – are going without the necessities in this world … and I am talking about the United States of America, which was founded on God.

Christmas Day only falls on a Sunday about every seven years, and most of our churches are closing their doors. People go around saying, “Jesus is the reason for the Season.” Is Jesus really the reason for Christmas Day when churches close their doors on Christmas Day?

P.S. If you are wondering if our church is open, yes, Faith Life Church in Muncie, Ind. will be open Christmas Day.

  1. I believe Christ was not really born on December 25th. This date was established so that we could all celebrate at the same time, however I do agree that Churches should remain opened on Christmas Day.
