Interactive Nativity tradition returns to Ascension St. Vincent Carmel

Ascension St. Vincent Carmel Hospital invites the community to a heartwarming evening of faith, tradition, and festive cheer at its Interactive Nativity event. Taking place from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, this family-friendly experience brings the Christmas story to life in a unique and engaging way.

The hospital is excited to bring back the Interactive Nativity for the first time since 2010, reviving a cherished tradition that celebrates the spirit of the season. The event will take place in the parking lot of Ascension St. Vincent Carmel at the far end of Door 4.

Step back in time to the humble scene of the Nativity, where the story of Mary and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem unfolds. Participants will:

  • Interact with live animals that may have been present at the birth of Jesus Christ, including donkeys, a camel, sheep, goats, and a calf.
  • Feed and brush the animals for a hands-on connection to the setting.
  • Enjoy live performances of Christmas carols and hymns by talented local choirs.
  • Hear readings of the Nativity story that inspire reflection on the meaning of the season.
  • Warm up with hot chocolate while enjoying the festive atmosphere.

Adding to the magic of the evening, a six-foot star visible from U.S. 31 will light the way to the event.

“We are thrilled to bring back the Interactive Nativity after so many years,” said Chad Dilley, President of Ascension St. Vincent Carmel Hospital. “This event not only brings joy and togetherness to our community but also connects us with the true spirit of Christmas. We can’t wait to share this meaningful tradition with everyone.”

Crews will be on site to help direct parking. The event is free and open to the public.
