Rich suffered a C5/C6 spinal cord injury, which has resulted in paralysis. However, according to family members, he has remained positive and focused throughout his rehabilitation. Though his journey will be long, he is determined to regain mobility.

Because the extent of the effect of his injuries are still not fully known, Rich’s parents, Nate and Kristen, have done the best they can to modify their home and buy needed equipment. Right now, a medical bed is the greatest necessity. Without the bed, Nate and Kristen will have to manually adjust Harrison every two hours until he is able to move on his own.

Rich’s aunt, Lauren Sweers, has organized a GoFundMe campaign with a $15,000 goal to pay for the bed. According to the campaign description, all money raised will go towards the cost of the medical bed and the costs of current and future medical bills, living expenses, and accessibility resources to make sure Rich has everything he needs.

As of early Wednesday evening, the GoFundMe has brought in $1,943 of the $15,000 goal.
