INDOT to hold public hearing for SR 13 roundabouts

The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, Feb. 19 to inform residents and solicit feedback about two proposed roundabouts on State Road 13 near the Hamilton, Madison, and Tipton county lines:

  • SR 13 at Strawtown Avenue/West 8th Street near Perkinsville (DES. 2003082)
  • SR 13 at SR 128/East 296th Street near Elwood (DES. 2003081)

The hearing will take place at the Lapel High School Auditorium, 1800 S. County Road 900 West, Lapel. Doors will open at 5 p.m., with a project presentation to begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by an in-person comment session.

The purpose of the projects is to reduce the incidence and severity of crashes and improve overall safety at both intersections.

Project documents are currently available online at bit.ly/SR13Roundabouts. Meeting materials will be available on the same webpage following the hearing. Printed copies of project documents are available at the following locations:

  • Lapel Branch Public Library, 610 Main St., Lapel
  • Elwood Public Library, 1600 Main St., Elwood
  • INDOT Greenfield District Office, 32 S. Broadway St., Greenfield

INDOT respectfully requests comments be submitted and/or postmarked by Wednesday, March 5, 2024.

In case of inclement weather, the hearing will be rescheduled to Wednesday, Feb. 26, at the same time and location.
