Indiana Golf opens tournament season May 28

Indiana’s golfers are ready to get back on the course for tournament season, and Indiana Golf has a full slate of events ready for professionals, amateurs and juniors as the summer begins.
Of course, things there will be a few things different as the state works its way through reopening due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But Indiana Golf said on its website that, “With specific social distancing guidelines in place we believe we can offer a safe and responsible setting for championship golf to resume.”
The Indiana PGA season begins Thursday, May 28 with the Indiana PGA Pro Am at Rock Hollow in Peru. Noblesville golf courses will then host two events: The PAT #2 is set for June 1 at Fox Prairie, then Purgatory will welcome the best 50 and over players in the state at the Indiana PGA Senior Open, set for June 3 and 4.
Other Indiana PGA tournaments in Hamilton County this summer are: The Indiana PGA Jr. League Section Champions (Aug. 15 and 16, Pebble Brook Golf Course South, Noblesville), the Club Car Stroke Play Championship (Aug. 17, Prairie View, Carmel) and the Indiana PGA Professional Championship (Aug. 24 and 25, Chatham Hills-Champion, Westfield). In the fall, the Indiana PGA Indianapolis Open will take place Oct. 26 and 27 at The Sagamore in Noblesville.
IGA tournaments include the above events listed, along with the following two tournaments: The IGA Tournament Series #2 (June 14, Purgatory) and the USGA Men’s Mid Amateur Qualifier (Aug. 18, Prairie View).
The Indiana Junior Golf schedule is set to begin on June 1 with the Hillview Country Club – Team Series. Hillview is in Franklin. Hamilton County will see its first junior event June 3 and 4 when Harbour Trees in Noblesville hosts the Girls Indiana Junior PGA Championship.
Other junior events in the county include Junior Tour (ages 13 to 19) stops at Wood Wind (Westfield, June 9), Pebble Brook North (June 22) and Fox Prairie (July 22). Prep events (ages 8 to 12) will take place at Forest Park (Noblesville, June 26), Wood Wind (July 15). Also, the Girls State Junior Championship is scheduled for July 13 to 15 at Plum Creek in Carmel.
Indiana Golf also released two sets of guidelines with regards to navigating the golf season during the phases of reopening. The “Staying on the Course Indiana” plan gives a list of guidelines for Indiana golf courses, and “Indiana Golf COVID-19 Operating Policies” lists rules that pertain more to tournaments.
