Caitlin Clark arrived in Indianapolis on Wednesday for her first press conference as a member of the Indiana Fever.

The Fever selected Clark with the No. 1 overall pick in Monday night’s WNBA draft.

Clark comes to the Circle City after one of the most decorated college hoops careers of all time.

Wednesday’s press conference at Gainbridge Fieldhouse marked Clark’s first public appearance as a Fever player. She was joined on stage by General Manager Lin Dunn and head coach Christie Sides.

Clark told the crowd she was “super excited” to be in Indianapolis and commented on how amazing it was to see one of her basketball idols at the event.

“This is a dream come true. These are the moments you dream of. Tamika Catchings is here. That’s pretty incredible – somebody I grew up idolizing. Like I said after I got drafted…I can’t think of a better place for myself to start my career – a place that loves basketball, supports women’s basketball, and an organization that really does things the right way,” Clark said.

Dunn and Sides also shared their excitement and said they are looking forward to having Clark joined the already-talented Fever roster.

“It’s incredible for us to have the opportunity to have someone like her join our team,” Sides said. “We established a great culture last year and laid a great foundation and to add someone like her and, and her awesome support staff, her family, to our Fever family, it just puts us in a whole different ballgame.”

The Indiana Fever start the preseason on the road in Dallas against the Wings on Friday, May 3. They’ll host the Atlanta Dream at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday, May 10, before starting the regular season on Tuesday, May 14 at the Connecticut Sun.
