IHSAA announces volleyball sectional pairings

The IHSAA announced pairings for the volleyball sectional tournaments last Sunday night.

Westfield will host Class 4A Sectional 8 this year. The event begins Thursday, Oct. 17 with two first-round matches: Fishers plays Noblesville at 6 p.m., then Carmel takes on Zionsville at 7:30 p.m.

The semifinals take place Saturday, Oct. 19, with Westfield hosting the Fishers-Noblesville winner at 11 a.m. and two-time defending state champion Hamilton Southeastern playing the Carmel-Zionsville winner at 12:30 p.m. Semifinal winners will play the championship match at 6 p.m. that night.

In Class 3A, Hamilton Heights plays in Sectional 24 at New Castle. This is a five-team sectional, and the Huskies play the host Trojans at 7 p.m. Oct. 17 in the lone first-round match.

The semifinals begin at 11 a.m. Oct. 19, with Connersville taking on Jay County, then Delta playing the Heights-New Castle winner. The championship match is set for 6 p.m. that evening.

Guerin Catholic travels to Brebeuf Jesuit for Sectional 25. This seven-team sectional begins on Tuesday, Oct. 15 with Lebanon playing Tri-West. First-round matches continue at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 17; Frankfort plays the host Braves, then the Golden Eagles take on Crawfordsville.

In the Oct. 19 semifinals, Danville plays the Lebanon-Tri-West winner at 11 a.m., followed by the Frankfort-Brebeuf winner taking on the Guerin Catholic-Crawfordsville winner. The championship match begins at 6 p.m. that night.

In Class 2A, Sheridan plays in Sectional 39 at Taylor. The host Titans open play at 6 p.m. Oct. 17 by taking on Lapel, then the Blackhawks face Elwood at 8 p.m.

In semifinal action, Frankton plays the Taylor-Lapel winner at 11 a.m. Oct. 19, then Tipton faces the Sheridan-Elwood winner afterwards. Semifinal winners advance to the championship match at 6 p.m. that evening.

University travels to Cardinal Ritter for Sectional 42. The Trailblazers open the tournament at 6 p.m. Oct. 17 against Monrovia, followed by a 7:15 p.m. match between Covenant Christian and the host Raiders.

Matches continues Oct. 19 with the semifinals. Riverside plays the University-Monrovia winner at 11 a.m., followed by Park Tudor taking on the Covenant-Ritter winner at 12:30 p.m. The championship match takes place that evening at 6 p.m.
