IHSAA announces baseball sectional pairings

Last Sunday, the IHSAA held the annual baseball sectional draw to determine the matchups for the state tournament. Four classes, 64 sectionals, 383 schools and it all comes down to four state champions on June 20 and 21.

This year will be different from years past. Traditionally, sectional week takes place during the week leading up to Memorial Day with the sectional championship played on Memorial Day. A tradition in Indiana high school baseball that will change this season, as sectional games start on May 28 and conclude on Monday, June 2.

Here is how the sectional draw fared for the nine Hamilton County teams. Times are listed for Sectional 8, all others are to be announced:

Class 4A Sectional 8 at Carmel 

Wednesday, May 28

Hamilton Southeastern vs. Fishers, 5:30 p.m.

Zionsville vs. Noblesville, to follow

Friday, May 30

Semifinal: HSE/Fishers winner vs. Zionsville/Noblesville winner, 5:30 p.m.

Semifinal: Westfield vs. Carmel, to follow

Championship game: Monday, June 2, 6 p.m.

Class 3A Sectional 24 at Yorktown

Connersville vs. Delta

Jay County vs. New Castle

Semifinal: Connersville/Delta winner vs. Jay County/New Castle winner

Semifinal: Hamilton Heights vs. Yorktown, to follow

Championship game: Monday, June 2

Class 3A Sectional 25 at Brebeuf Jesuit

Tri-West (Hendricks) vs. Frankfort

Danville vs. Brebeuf Jesuit, to follow

Guerin Catholic vs. Lebanon

Semifinal: Crawfordsville vs. Tri-West/Frankfort winner

Semifinal: Danville/Brebeuf Jesuit winner vs. Guerin Catholic/Lebanon winner, to follow
