The swimming portion of the Hoosier Conference took place last Saturday at the Morgan Burke Aquatics Center in West Lafayette. Hamilton Heights finished fourth in both the girls and boys meets. The boys scored 244 points and the girls scored 241; Tipton won the girls meet with 372.5 points and Western won the boys meet with 396 points.
Teegan Madara won two events in the girls competition, taking both the breaststroke (in a new school and conference record time of 1 minute, 6.82 seconds) and the 500 freestyle, where she led a 1-2 finish. Sophia Hulen was the 500 free runner-up and also placed second in the 50 free. Aiden Clarke had the best result for the boys, placing fourth in the 500 free.
Heights’ diving team dominated its portion of the Hoosier Conference meet last Thursday night at West Lafayette.
The Huskies pair of Ethan Swart and Nathan Cox got a 1-2 finish in the boys meet. Swart won the meet with a new school and conference record of 555.10 points. Cox was the runner-up with a score of 539.90 points; he also finished above the old conference record of 514.20 points, which had stood for nine years.
In the girls meet, Heights’ Campbell Lively-Mason ran away with first place. Lively-Mason scored 365.55 points, almost 70 points ahead of second place.
