The Hamilton Heights boys gave Class 2A No. 1 Tipton all it could handle on Friday night before the Blue Devils made a fourth-quarter comeback to get past the Huskies 54-50 in a Hoosier Conference East Division game.
Heights gave its home crowd much to cheer about in the first quarter, jumping out to a 16-10 lead. Sam Dawson hit two 3s in the first quarter, then nailed two more in the second period, helping the Huskies to a 28-20 lead.
Tillman Etchison got going in the third quarter, scoring nine points. Etchison and Tyler Champion’s six kept Heights in front 43-34 after three periods. But Tipton outscored the Huskies 20-7 in the fourth.
Etchison finished with 16 points, while Dawson totaled five 3s for 15 points. Champion scored 11 points. Etchison also had five assists.
Heights finished second in the East Division at 2-1. The Huskies are 8-9 overall and host Frankton Thursday.
