Huskies have no trouble taking care of Greenwood

THE REPORTER

Hamilton Heights took care of Greenwood 53-32 in a Thursday home game.

The Huskies led 14-10 after one quarter, with Kaylee Rhoton throwing in two 3-pointers and scoring eight points in total for the period. Heights’ defense then took over in the middle quarters, holding the Woodsmen to just seven points during those two period.

As a result, the Huskies led 28-14 at halftime and 43-17 after three quarters. Greenwood did outscore Heights 15-10 in the fourth period, but Huskies coach Keegan Cherry said the team was “working on some different things. So from that perspective it was successful – we got to see some things we need to work on.”

Camryn Runner played an outstanding third quarter, pouring 12 points. She finished as the leading scorer with 24 points, going 10-of-11 from the free-throw line. Rhoton totaled three 3s and scored 15 points.

“I’m so proud of the fight our girls showed,” said Cherry. “Every game lose warmups – always outsized. Yet our girls fight and win.” The coach said the heart and toughness of his team is “something we can always count on with this group.”

Heights is 14-3 and plays a Saturday game at Tipton; that contest will finish up Hoosier Conference East Division play for the Huskies.
