The Hamilton Heights girls basketball team split a pair of games at the Waldron Tournament last Friday.
The Huskies dropped their first game 52-19 to Union County. The Patriots led 34-7 at halftime. Katie Brown, Presley Cherry and Sarah Sherrill all scored five points for Heights, with Brown and Abi Hilfiker each pulling five rebounds.
The Huskies bounced back in their second game, beating Waldron 61-57 in overtime. Heights led 11-8 after the first quarter and 29-22 at halftime, but the Mohawks came back in the third period to tie the game at 38-38.
Both teams scored 15 points in the fourth quarter, keeping the game tied at 53-53. Heights pulled ahead in the extra period, outscoring Waldron 8-4.
Four Huskies players reached double-figures scoring, and two earned double-doubles. Brown led with 19 points, collected 13 rebounds and dished out six assists. Sherrill dominated the boards with 17 rebounds, also scoring 13 points and blocking three shots. Cherry added 12 points and pulled eight rebounds, while Hilfiker scored 10 points.
Heights is 4-11 and hosts North Miami on Tuesday.
