Hamilton Heights completed an undefeated season in Hoosier Conference East Division play on Saturday, winning at Tipton 40-35.
The Class 3A No. 10 Huskies led 11-8 after the first quarter, with Jillian Osswald scoring six points. The Blue Devils made a slight comeback in the second period, cutting Heights’ lead to 19-18 at halftime. The Huskies got going again in the third quarter, leading 31-25 by the end of the period. Osswald hit two 3-pointers. Heights held on in the fourth quarter.
Osswald scored 14 points, with Camryn Runner adding nine and MyKayla Moran scoring seven.
“Tough win on the road with the opportunity to play for a Hoosier Conference championship on the line,” said Heights coach Keegan Cherry. “We weren’t our best today, but credit to Tipton. When you’re able to learn and still win, that’s a positive. We knew it was going to be a battle. Moran’s interior defense was impactful the entire game. Our guard play late was solid and we made free throws. Proud of the team. We’re going to get everyone’s best shot. And we need to embrace that.”
Heights finished division play 4-0 and will play at Lafayette Central Catholic, the West Division champion, on Friday for the conference title. The Huskies are 14-0 overall and host New Castle on Tuesday.
