Huskies baseball drops opener

The Hamilton Heights baseball team dropped its season-opener on Thursday, falling to Farragut (Tenn.) 12-2 in six innings at the DeMarini Tennessee Tournament.
Farragut led 3-0 after three innings. The Huskies got on the board in the top of the fourth, when Sam Allen scored on an RBI groundout by Nate Hulen. But Farragut erupted for five runs in the bottom of the fourth to lead 8-1.
Heights scored another run in the sixth inning, with Allen again getting home on an RBI groundout, this time by Jared Michael. Allen hit a double to get on base. Farragut ended the game in the bottom of the inning with four runs.
Brayden Elkin and Drew VanOeveren also had one hit for the Huskies.
Heights plays two games today, against Tennessee teams, taking on Hardin Valley Academy at noon and Bearden at 4 p.m.
