From April 17 to 20, don’t be surprised if you hear a stampede of little feet in the Downtown Noblesville area. That’s because Nickel Plate Arts’ Welcome to Fairyville event is back for the seventh year. Residents are expected to build dozens of fairy houses on the Fairy Trail along the White River riverwalk. Many downtown merchants will feature fairy doors outside their buildings in an effort to bring some magic inside. And fairy tea party events (complete with glittery crafts) will take place across the entire Downtown Square.

Nickel Plate Arts’ Executive Director Ailithir McGill can’t hide her enthusiasm for the event: “I am most excited about our new event host locations: Hamilton County Artists’ Association and Lil Bloomers will be hosting unique tea parties, Caravan Classes will be hosting some amazing fairythemed crafts, and Shine Yoga will be hosting fairy-themed yoga.” McGill added, “We’ll even have events geared for grown-up fairy lovers this year – Noble Coffee and Tea will be hosting an adult tea tasting party on Thursday evening with storytelling provided by Logan Street Sanctuary.”

Welcome to Fairyville has clearly enchanted its fans, with momentum building each year. Dozens of artists and merchants come together to bring the event to life. According to McGill, “Fairyville is special because so much of our community comes together to celebrate childhood, whimsy and nature. We let fairies take over our town and we celebrate all of the creative and mischievously friendly things they do.”

The Fairy Home Tour will show off the community-built houses at Nickel Plate Arts, 107 S. 8th St., from Wednesday to Friday afternoon, where people can vote on their favorite house. Beginning Friday evening, the fairy houses will be placed on the Fairy Trail. Guests can hike the Fairy Trail from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.

“This event is for anyone who can embrace the whimsy of it all,” said McGill. “I am always amazed by the diversity of people who love this program: Moms and their young daughters of course adore this event, but we also have an impressive number of grandfathers and teenage brothers who find themselves skipping along the trail.”

Whether you choose to skip, walk, or even dare to frolic along the Fairy Trail, Nickel Plate Arts is looking forward to welcoming any and all guests. For more information, go to nickelplatearts.org.
