‘Twas the week before Christmas, and all through the shelter, ALL the creatures were stirring, dreaming of a life that was better. To make their holiday dreams come true, the staff at the Humane Society for Hamilton County (HSHC) has a favor to ask of you.
Will you foster an animal just long enough to give them a holiday to remember? This Holiday Sleepover campaign has no tinsel attached. No cost, no long-term commitment, and HSHC will even send you home with all the pet supplies you need. Of course, interested individuals must fill out the foster application and be approved according to their standard guidelines.
HSHC is ready to match you with one of their eligible pets for your holiday sleepover.*
“We know there are a lot of folks who love animals, but they aren’t in a place to adopt a pet, or even foster one for several weeks,” HSHC Community Engagement Manager Lily Darling said. “This short-term fostership is a win-win for shelter animals who need a break, and for someone who may be alone during the holidays, or frankly, anyone who could use a little holiday cheer.”
Potential foster parents have the flexibility to pick up their foster animal during HSHC’s regular adoption hours between Dec. 19 and 24, and then, return their foster animal as early as Dec. 26, during HSHC’s regular adoption hours. The shelter will be open on Christmas Eve from noon to 3 p.m. Returns must be made with an appointment.
Interested in hosting a sleepover? Here’s what to bring:
- Completed foster application on com/foster-application.
- All family members
- Dogs for dog meet and greets
- Landlord’s pet policy if you rent
- Government-issued ID
*Some pets may be excluded from HSHC’s Holiday Sleepover campaign due to being unaltered, too young, or needing specialized care.
