Dear Editor:

Springtime is one of my favorite seasons, and anyone who knows me can attest to my love for the Madness of March tournament. Basketball games cover my TV from tip-off to “One Shining Moment.”

Unfortunately, my team went down in the first round (Boiler down) and I was truly feeling sad.

The next morning, Sandy and I met at Stone Farm to talk with a consultant about our amazing Alpaca Adventure Program. Finley, the resident dog, could clearly feel my emotions and proceeded to place his head on my lap for a little while. He had a genuine knowledge of what I needed at that precise moment, and it did truly make me feel better. I got to personally experience the strength of the bond between people and animals that morning.

In just a few weeks, we’ll be bringing teens back to Stone Farm, and as we prepare, I’m reminded once more of the importance of the human-animal bond. I’m giddy with delight when I see soothed, joyful teenagers, engaging with the alpacas. Thank you Finley for making me feel better over the weekend – you did a good job.
